My name is Katrin Heuser, and I am originally from Germany. However, I lived in London for 16 years before moving to Lisbon in the summer of 2015.

The body and movement have always played a significant part in my life. I started ballet at the age of six and continued to dance in one form or another for 24 years. As a teenager I developed scoliosis, for which I took up Pilates and then yoga to help my back to adjust and cope well. I soon discovered though that there was a wholeness to yoga that goes way beyond the physical exercise. For me, yoga is a never-ending exploration of the body and mind, and a way of discovering the beauty of life. As we bring the awareness to what is happening inside and where we are in the present moment, the body is encouraged to release where it is holding. That way it can start to work deeper and move more freely into yoga postures. Yoga is not about pushing and pulling but about connecting with the breath and allowing to let go, to let be. Then we can embark on a journey of restoration and transformation.

This journey eventually led me to the point where I wanted to teach yoga to share my knowledge and experience of working with the body. In order to do this with integrity I decided to do the 500h Level 4 NVQ Diploma Course with the British Wheel of Yoga.

I soon went on to train as an advanced practitioner of Thai Yoga Massage. My main teachers are Ralf Marzen of the Mudita School of Thai Yoga Massage and David Lutt of the Lulyani School of Thai Massage and Osteothai. I didn’t expect this to take me on yet another overwhelming new path in my life, but it has. I feel immense gratitude every day to be able to share this beautiful ancient healing art by giving treatments, but also by teaching other people so they can embark on their own journey with this deep practice. Now that I am based in Lisbon, I have set up Hadadi, my own school of Thai Yoga Massage.

In addition, I am a qualified Manual Lymphatic Drainage therapist (Vodder technique, L1), I run an annual yoga festival in London, and have launched an online anti-stress breathing programme. In my ‘old’ life, I was Project Director at an awesome creative web agency and I am endlessly grateful to everyone there for the support they have given me on my journey. And I believe that’s pretty much it about me. Well at least in this context. But if you want to know more about me, just get in touch. I always love to hear from people.
